Adrienne and Noel Cruz’s Wedding

We had an awesome time at Noel and Adrienne’s wedding.  It was nice to just sit back and enjoy one as a guest for a change.

Well, at least that’s what I thought…

About halfway through the reception, there was a very unexpected moment where 10 individuals “at random” were called up by Adrienne and Noel to perform a pairs dancing contest.

LOL, here is the final round. I’m glad that one year on MMHS All-male Hip-Hop Dance Team and watching all those Jabbawockeez videos paid off.

My Votes for a Better San Diego

No matter your political affiliation or ideology, if you are a San Diego Chargers fan there are two important votes you must make:

1) City of San Diego, City Attorney
- Jan Goldsmith, San Diego Superior Court Judge

2) PROP B
Shall the San Diego Unified Port District’s Master Plan be Amended by the Adoption of “The Port of San Diego Marine Freight Preservation and Bayfront Redevelopment Intiative?”
- YES

Saw V

Rating: ★★★★☆

When: Saturday, October 26, 2008 – 10:45 PM

Where: Edwards Mira Mesa Stadium 18 & IMAX

Review: It amazes me how many people have never seen a Saw movie.  Sure it has its scary, creepy, gross and gruesome moments–But what separates this franchise from all the other horror flick movies is that Saw movies are very thick with plot.  They are all written well and you can always expect a major twist at the end.  This is not your really-big-guy-that-never-dies-and-chases-after-stupid-teenagers movie.  Imagine if Jerry Bruckheimer and Quentin Tarintino got together and decided to create a series of horror movies and the Saw franchise is what you’d get.

Probably the most interesting part of the Saw franchise is that Jigsaw, the main villain, never really kills. Jigsaw claims that he is attempting to help his victims to appreciate their life by jumpstarting their survival instincts by placing them in life-threatening situations.  Twisted, huh?

I still remember renting Saw I, bringing it home, thinking I was going to see a stupid horror flick and then it ended up being the most craziest thing I’ve ever seen.  THE ENDING freaked me out in a way I’ve never been freaked out before and I’ll never forget that feeling which is why I continue to watch Saw movies to this day.

While this may not be a review for Saw V, let me leave you with this comment–If you’ve seen all of the previous Saw movies, you might as well watch V (you won’t be disappointed).  And if you haven’t seen a Saw movie, watch the first one and if you like it, watch the rest, and then V (you won’t be disappointed).  OR, if you can’t wait and just want to catch up, go to this wikipedia page, read the synopsis and then watch Saw V (you won’t be disappointed).

Oh and don’t go alone.  Bring a date, or go with a group of friends and make sure to eat AFTER the movie.

Apple’s Response to Window’s “I’m a PC” ads

Amidst all the political ads and commentary, some of you may have noticed another battle going on–PCs versus Macs.  For the past several weeks, Microsoft has been putting out several ads claiming that the PC has been turned into a stereotype.  The ads contain individuals from all walks of life saying “I’m a PC.”  Celebrities like Pharrell Williams, Tony Parker, Eva Longoria, Rashad Evans, and even Bill Gates himself appear in them, claiming they’re PCs.

If you ask me, these “I’m a PC” commercials are whack, pointless, and a sorry excuse of a response to Apple’s ad campaigns.

Apple had no reason to respond–but they did, and with the quickness too!  LOL.

Body of Lies

Rating: ★★★½☆

Review: It’s your typical espionage movie where the spy all of a sudden grows a conscience and has a random love interest. Think Bond / Bourne / Enemy of the State.  But even though the plot was predictable, it kept me interested.  And that’s saying a lot especially since I hate Leonardo DiCaprio.  Considering that the only other movies out are a Stephen Spielberg flick and another Samuel L. Jackson yelling movie, I’m giving this a very generous rating.  I did hear from a couple people that Quarantine was pretty good though.  But I think I’ll wait for Saw V instead.

Toe looks good to me

I’m happy to see the Chargers running on all cylinders again.  It was only a matter of time that the entire team would be on the same page.

I’m glad to see both our lines dominating again– with their starting center Hardwick in the mix and Jamal back to his old self stuffin the run, the Chargers should be able to get on a good roll as long as everyone stays healthy or gets healthy.

I have to admit though, they got me worried.  Three quarters into the game I kept thinking to myself, “What the heck is going on?!?”  Or as Leonard put it, “Raiders. Seriously?!”

LT Toes versus Raiders 2008But then L.T. made an awesome cutback on a redzone play that helped the Chargers get the lead late in the game.

It was a sweet run that should make any L.T. doubters shut up–cutback, stiffarm, breaktackle, TOUCHDOWN!

And then in classic Charger fashion, L.T. put the dagger in the Raiders with a 40+ yd run.  Again–cutback, stiffarm, breaktackle, TOUCHDOWN!

I’m lovin it!  Oh you better know I’ll be rocking the L.T. jersey.  He’s back baby!

Good food, good company, good game!

“The waterfall will turn off!”

Today we went to Sea World with Vince and Frances.

We kicked off the day with some awesome Philly Cheese Steaks and Garlic Fries from Gaglione Bros. in Point Loma.  Saw some cool sea lions and a fat one that looked like the thing from Tremors.

And then with our fingers still smelling like cheesesteaks, we attracted a whole bunch of bat rays at the Forbidden Reef.  The water was cold but well worth it.

Somehow we ended up going on Shipwreck Rapids not once, but twice.  We didn’t even have to get out of the ride since there was hardly a line.  We got really soaked.  And it was on this ride where I said the quote of the day… “Don’t worry, the waterfall will turn off.”

LOL, yeah, I was wrong.  I guess it only turns off in December?

Then we went to the kids playground which was actually more like Navy Seal training;  Played a carnival game, won a mini dolphin;  Ate some yummy funnel cake;  and saw Shamu for about 8 seconds.

There were some other random moments that don’t need to be mentioned here…  But all in all, it was another fun trip to Sea World.

If you’re a San Diegan and haven’t gotten one yet, I highly recommend getting a Sea World Fun Card or Silver Passport–Definitely worth it.
